Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly was discharged from a New York City hospital Saturday after having surgery to remove cancer in his upper jaw.
The former Buffalo Bills star will continue his recovery for the next two weeks in New York City before returning to Buffalo.
“With a swollen smile, and a cane in his hand he was DISCHARGED from the hospital today!,” Kelly’s wife, Jill, wrote on Instagram. “Praise the LORD! So THANKFUL for Dr. Mark Urken, his team, and the rest of the amazing Mount Sinai staff. The recovery continues here in NYC for the next two weeks. Then back to BUFFALO! One day at a time. One prayer at a time. All in God’s perfect timing! Thank you for praying!!”
Kelly, 58, was initially diagnosed with cancer in his jaw and had his first surgery in 2013. He needed surgery again the following year after the cancer spread to his nasal cavities.
He revealed last month that the disease had returned, and he underwent 12 hours of surgery on March 28.
