Free agent T.J. Yeldon signs with Bills after recent Patriots visit originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com
Another free-agent running back is joining an AFC East team not named the New England Patriots.
Yeldon, who spent his first four NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly visited the Patriots on April 10 along with wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, whom New England eventually signed. Yeldon met with the Bills last Tuesday, though, and will join LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore in a crowded Buffalo backfield.
The AFC East has loaded up on running backs this offseason, with the New York Jets adding All-Pro Le’Veon Bell. The position isn’t a pressing need for the Patriots, who return Sony Michel, James White and Rex Burkhead and added running back/special teamer Brandon Bolden in free agency. But they could look to target a bigger back this year to add more versatility to a group that mostly operates best outside the tackles.
UPDATE (8:50 a.m. ET): It’s a done deal.
We’ve signed RB TJ Yeldon to a two-year deal. #GoBills
